anathema

we're here because we're here

The band will play their success album 'We're Here Because We're Here' in it entirety.

When Anathema was raised in Liverpool in the early 90s, they may not have known in which turbulent waters the band would end up. Together with My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost, they soon formed the triumvirate of the English doom / death metal scene.

Since 'We're Here Because We're Here' the band is situated in progressive rock, where fans of acts such as Porcupine Tree in particular are in their element. Just listen to their recent albums like "Distant Sattelites", "A Sort Of Homecoming" and "The Optimist" without getting goosebumps.

We're Here Because We're Here - 10th Anniversary Edition OUT NOW! LINK IN BIO for bundles & tickets; including the new digital version of the album and original physical versions. -------------------- Anathema celebrate the 10th Anniversary of their iconic ‘We’re Here Because We’re Here’ album by re-issuing it digitally with 4 new “2020 Lockdown Version” tracks. With plans to take the album on the road for a series of exclusive anniversary shows throughout Europe delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the band were fortunate that the license term for ‘We’re Here Because We’re Here’, with which they exploded back into action with a multi-coloured, multi-layered work of unbridled emotion, passion and intensity after a 6 year absence, had expired. As such they’re in a position with rights reverted to self-release Classic Rock’s ‘Prog Album of the Year 2010’ on their own We’re Here Records imprint, and fully control how they celebrate what is an integral part of the bands journey so far with fans. On the new versions recorded for the release, Vincent Cavanagh says; “I’ve always welcomed the idea that a song can have more than one incarnation of itself, each as musically valid as the next. As long as one retains the essence of meaning behind the song then it’s not only valid but an intriguing process to revisit and reimagine well-established work. These lockdown versions are completely new recordings. The extraordinary circumstances of the past couple of months have afforded me the time and space to see these songs under a different light. All of them are vastly different from the original versions. I’ve had fun making them and I hope you enjoy.’ Talking about the tour Danny Cavanagh says; “We never usually do anniversary tours of particular albums, but in the case of ‘We’re Here Because We’re Here,’ which is the album that began our rebirth, we feel this is something we want to do. What I love about this album and that time in our journey is the life affirming qualities in the music. It’s an album of hope, reflection, of summer, of an intense uplifting emotion”. -------------------- Video: @braceforimpact__

⚠ Live Music Industry in the UK! Like every part of the entertainment industry, live music has been proud to play our part in the national effort to reduce the spread of Coronavirus and keep people safe. But, with no end to social distancing in sight or financial support from government yet agreed, the future for concerts and festivals and the hundreds of thousands of people who work in them looks bleak. This sector doesn’t want to ask for government help. The promoters, festival organisers, and other employers want to be self-sufficient, as they were before lockdown. But, until these businesses can operate again, which is likely to be 2021 at the earliest, government support will be crucial to prevent mass insolvencies, and the end of this great world-leading industry. Government has addressed two important British pastimes - football and pubs - and it’s now crucial that it focuses on a third, live music. For the good of the economy, the careers of emerging British artists, and the UK’s global music standing, we must ensure that a live music industry remains when the pandemic has finally passed.
